Wine: Protos El Grajo Viejo is the crème de la crème of the Protos wines. It is their most exclusive wine using vines from over 70 years old, and it is produced only in excellent vintages. It’s powerful, flavourful, and intense with notes of red & black berries, oak, vanilla, and black pepper. It has good acidity, good structure, and a lingering finish.
About Winery: Protos is an iconic Spanish winery with a long-standing history and renown for producing superb wines. Protos, which means “first” in Greek, was founded in 1927. Several years later in 1982, it allowed its brand “RIBERA DEL DUERO” to be used to register the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin, one of the most prestigious and well respected wine regions in Spain. “Protos literally and figuratively put Ribera del Duero on the map.” Today Protos is the oldest winery in the Ribera del Duero.
